Where Would We Be Without Technology?

Stole this pic from Scott Adams on WSJ.. :D
For most people, the past two days were spent at home trying to survive the effects of Hurricane Sandy, a category one hurricane that affected nearly everyone in the upper east coast of the United States. Honestly, with all the talk about how serious this storm would be, Philadelphia didn't get hit as bad as I thought it would. We had some strong cold winds, a little bit of sprinkle, and spotted blackouts throughout the city, but all in all, we were lucky!

So there I was stuck in my house for two days, thankfully with electricity, but with nothing to do... except eat, sleep, watch tv, play on my iPhone, eat and sleep some more. I didn't know if I was trying to survive the hurricane or survive getting through the hurricane... Then I realized what monsters we have turned ourselves into; needing technology to survive. Gone were the days of Monopoly and Taboo! Makes you wonder: Where would we be without television, laptops and smart phones?... What would we do? (*shrugs) Who knows?

In the meantime, my boyfriend and I kept ourselves occupied with our all-time favorites like Family Guy, The Painted Veil, and History Channels. It wasn't bad, but it did make me think about what the people without electricity did? If you're one of those people reading this, will you let me know? Or if you went through a similar situation, what did you do when there was no technology available?

Thanks :)
