Let's Talk Friends With Benefits

Every once in a while I hear someone tell me about her "friends with benefits" situation and I always think, "Why? Why would you do that to yourself?"

Now I'm not a prune when it comes to sex. In fact, I think every one should have sex. Lots of it! The more, the merrier. One sex a day keeps the doctors away. Well, except for the one doctor, but you get the point! Have sex! It's good for you if nothing else is.

At first, it's like really good. You get pounded, it's exciting, it's new, you get the horny out of your system, and everything is great. That is until you wake up one day and you either 1. grow an attachment for the other person who has no attachment for you or 2. you finally come to your senses and you realize that you have been sharing something, which is supposed to be very beautiful, in the most undeserving way... yes, I can get soppy sometimes, but it's the truth. Sex without meaning or feelings may as well be as pointless as throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

Don't believe me? Go watch that movie with Justin Timberlake and the hottie from that 70's show... EXACTLY!

My advice for anyone out there who might be looking for friends with benefits? Don't do it! If you really must have sex with someone, get a meaningful one-night-stand. If that's not enough, turn on some porn and start masterbating. BOOM! Problem solved.

-Cheers and good night everyone

The Cosmo Mag

I've never been one to pick up a Cosmo Magazine let alone purchase one because of the ultra trashy covers. Walking around with one in my hand would brand me a whore for ages what with all the sex tips littered in bold print on every front page. Now that I think about it, I don't ever recall any edition that didn't have "SEX" as a main topic. It's a sleazy magazine and yet it was so popular among many of the girls with which I attended Journalism School. Why did they like it so much?

Against my will, I decided to purchase a subscription in hopes that I might discover the secret behind the craze of its popularity. The first one that came in the mail was February's "Love" issue with Julianne Hough on the cover. Of course "sex" came up twice on the front page; no surprise there. What really caught me off guard was something else all together. I actually enjoyed reading it!

It was funny, engaging, silly yet inspiring, and all around very real. The magazine had a lot to offer with stories every girl can relate to, with fashion, and even with tips on how to do things the right way. I especially liked the feature on Fun, Fearless Females, a simple one-page spread on women who are kicking ass and making a difference. They were all power women in journalism, politics, media entertainment and law. Nearly every page kept me smiling from front to back of the magazine. Now I know why so many young women read Cosmo.

I must admit, it still doesn't beat a good old New Yorker, but I'll definitely be reading it more often for an inspiration in the future :) Thank you Cosmo!

Cheers!
